Traditional Picual olive grove in the hills of north-eastern Jaén

About the project

Hacienda El Mesto farms 1,091.82 hectares of olive groves under three systems: traditional, with Picual trees over a hundred years old and three or four trunks each; intensive; and hedgerow. Managed woodland enclaves between the plots connect the groves with the Natura 2000 sites that border the estate. A biodiversity action plan is reviewed every year.
